lockjaw: always and forever

About

lockjaw was founded in 1997 by a then 15 year old Nik Bonaddio. Inspired by the art groups iCE and ACiD from the ANSI art scene on elite, underground BBSes, lockjaw was a cutting edge arts magazine published infrequently by a rotating team of young technologists to capture the rapidly changing landscape as design, technology, and the new medium of the Internet converged. At it's peak, the project featured nine designers from four different countries, working concurrently to release over 150 short-form pieces of experimental digital art.

The lockjaw crew wound down their activity in 2004, as many of the core group attended and ultimately finished college, choosing to pursue their passions in a professional capacity; nearly all work in the digital media field to this day. Due to infrequent archiving and a retrospectively poor understanding of the implications of a restrictive robots.txt, very few digital artifacts remain of this highly influential site.
